4v2 Possession in Two Grids

Aim of this small sided soccer drill is practising possession and transition.
The soccer exercise also focuses on developing the cooperation between two defenders, supporting, and closing the deep passing channels.

Organisation

Cones are used to create two equal squares according to the age group.
Two teams of four are involved into the game.
One team tries to possess the ball in one of the areas.
Two defenders are placed into the other area and other two try to win the ball in the playing area. When the defenders win the ball they have to pass it to their team-mates and transit to possession in the other area.
Two of the possessioning players go to defence and other two stay in the area.
Defending pairs have to work in turns.

Description and Graphics

One of the teams keeps possession of the ball in the square. Two defenders try to win the ball and pass it over to their team-mates to the other square to switch into possession. When players in possession lose the ball two of the players go to defence in the other area. Load and rest periods have to be adequate to the age group.
